G4 Adjustable Stock for PCC, Multi-Gun and Steel Challenge

Taking your shooting performance to the next level...

How the S3LIT Competition G4 Came About

Due to the inherent design of the AR platform, I noticed that when mounting a regular AR stock, the tip of the butt plate (toe) is pretty much the only part of the stock that rests nearly at the top of my shoulder and I would need to move my head around to find the dot on my optics.  Not a good situation for competition shooting.  It was a slow, inaccurate and unrepeatable mount.  I have a pre-teen daughter who recently got into shooting steel challenge and her rifle platform is similar to an AR. She struggled to get the right mount and length of pull.  There was practically nothing available in her length of pull.  I wanted to design a stock that would fit her and will adjust to her as she grows.

Features of the S3LIT Competition G4

The rifle butt is the primary anchor point of the stock.  It transfers the recoil from the rifle to the shoulder and prevents the rifle from moving, allowing for a more precise, repeatable and rapid mount.  The G4 is designed to provide an ergonomic fit for most shooters including pre-teen and ladies.  One will notice that due to the lowered and angled butt plate (pitch) of the G4, as well as the adjustable axis of the butt plate, the stock will efficiently distribute recoil  through the entirety of the butt plate making more contact with that part of the shoulder (some refer to as the “pocket"), which allows for better management of recoil making the rifle more comfortable to shoot.  Another inherent design of the AR platform is the somewhat elevated picatinny rail for mounting optics.  The stock's cheek piece or riser (comb) is arguably the most critical component of the stock.  A properly adjusted cheek riser allows for repeatable accuracy.  After installing optics, you most often will need a cheek riser that adjusts to the height of the optics dot to allow your eye to line up with the dot on the optics while maintaining contact with the cheek piece (cheek weld).  The G4 cheek riser has a height adjustability range of up to 7/8 of an inch.

The G4 is the culmination of almost 2 years of development and actual use in competition.  It is designed to provide an ergonomic fit to the shooter for a more comfortable, repeatable and more rapid mount.

The G4 features:

  1.  Adjustable length of pull from 12-1/2 to 16 inches.  LOP adjustment range is based on a full stroke AR9 PCC and AR 10/15 recoil system.  Platforms utilizing a short stroke recoil system may have an adjustment range from 11-1/2 to 16, suitable for smaller built shooters to include pre-teen and ladies.

  2. Adjustable cheek riser to get your eyes lined up with the dot height of your optics for a repeatable cheek weld and sight picture.  Height adjustability range of up to 7/8 inch.

  3. Lowered butt plate.  For people with large chests, usually women, a stock with no pitch will distribute recoil with only the toe part of the butt.  The G4 butt plate is set with a pitch and axis off-set of about 2.5 degrees.  By having pitch and axis adjustments, the stock will distribute recoil through the entirety of the butt plate making the rifle more comfortable to mount on the shoulder pocket. Ladies will love this feature.

  4. The G4 is compatible with AR 10/15 carbine length mil-spec buffer tube with half inch rail / guide.  Eight (8) cone point set screws torqued approximately 12 to 15 inch-pound keeps the G4 attached securely to the buffer tube after LOP adjustment and application of Loctite to the set screws.

  5. The G4 is also compatible with other platforms with a 1913 picatinny rail attachment in combination with a buffer tube and picatinny adaptor as well as a dedicated Tri-LOK FAREnd picatinny mount.

  6. The G4 body is machined from 6061 aluminum and the cheek riser thermo formed  Kydex.  The G4 weighs in at approximately 11.5 oz.
